Lupercalia is set in the modern world very much like current North America and sharing most landmarks, but with a few notable differences.
a) All of the things that go 'bump in the night' are real, including vampires, werewolves and other shapeshifters, ghosts, demons, nature spirits, etc.
b) 'Anthro' people are real, by virtue of scientific experiments involving gene splicing and alteration. These humanoid animals are commonly called 'Genomos,' and though far less common than humans, they are present now on all continents. See Genomos.
c) Laws and social customs have developed to incorporate supernatural/preternatural beings and Genomos, especially in North America. Some of the laws are still in development as social mores and the rights of preternatural citizens evolve over time.
d) World history is essentially as we know it, but with modifications to incorporate items noted above.
